Professor in Movement Disorder Neurology at the Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands
Received medical, neurological and scientific degrees at the Leiden University, The Netherlands
Member of Movement Disorders Society (MDS) and has served on several MDS committees, including the Executive Committee of the European section, Editorial board Mov Disord, Evidence-based Medicine Task Force and Taskforce on the Development of Rating Scales for Parkinson’ Disease, and is currently serving on the Membership committee.
Member of the Association of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders.
Over the period of 2004-2011 he was scientific director of Trauma Related Neuronal Dysfunction (TREND), a Dutch multidisciplinary research consortium on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome type 1.
Chair advisory board Dutch Parkinson's Disease Association and member of the Dutch Dystonia Association
Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau (Netherlands).
Research interests are focussed on Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Written more than 190 scientific articles in the field of movement disorders.
